So many of the young people we work with have no outlet to express what they've been through or how they're feeling about it. That's why learning to cultivate healthy outlets for self-expression is so important. Our creative writing project does just that, helping to heal by putting pen to paper.

The goal of the project is to connect Syrian and other Arab poets and writers across generations to train and inspire youth, but also to help youth develop their own creative voice. Taking place in Za'atari Refugee Camp in Jordan, young people are connected to the deep tradition of literary expression in Arab culture, a tradition threatened by regional conflict and its consequences.

So far, we’ve implemented over 150 trainings and sessions—and we’re just getting started. We’re reaching out to more people in Za’atari, letting people know about the project and recruiting new participants.
