At age 16 Husam went to prison for a crime he did not commit. Desire for revenge consumed him. A Questscope mentor intervened and encouraged him to forgive. He now tells others: “I have the chance for a new, free life.”
At age 15, Sara cried herself to sleep most nights overwhelmed with caring for an invalid father. At the local Questscope Women's Center she found support and a mentor to counsel and guide her. Today she says: "My mentor taught me to respect and love other people and helped me discover that I deserve to live.”
We made a difference for Husam and Sara. They learned skills and developed attitudes needed to change their lives and find hope for the future.
We also make a difference at another level. We strategically partner with communities, institutions and policy makers. We share our expertise and methods so that local communities are strengthened to support their most marginalized members like Husam and Sara.
Questscope: “Putting the Last, First” builds a new kind of community, a community that benefits everyone. Hope for the future. Hope for all of us!
