When one kid on the street turns his life around, people start to notice.  When 48 dropouts become the first of hundreds after them to pass their 10th grade proficiency test, go on to vocational-technical schools and plan to start their own businesses one day through Questscope’s Non-Formal Education program, lots of people notice.

In March 2007, Dr. Curt Rhodes and our Program Director, Jawad Al-Qusous, attended the UNESCO Conference on Global Literacy for the Middle East in Qatar.  This conference was part of the UNESCO Dakar initiative to ensure education for all children. 

They were invited to present the experience of Questscope as an international non-governmental organization (NGO) in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Education. This unique collaboration resulted in a model to mainstream children who had dropped out of school and were unable to return due to the length of time they had been away.   Non-Formal Education was presented as an example of what is possible at a national level when governmental and non-governmental organizations work together to give marginalized children a second chance at an education and a future.

Questscope is proud to be a partner with the Ministry of Education in Jordan as well as becoming a strategic partner with UNESCO for educational initiatives.
