Rami was Jordanian kid who dropped out of school to work long hours at a job that no one else wanted. His only option was back-breaking work under the burning sun in fruit fields. Until he heard about Questscope’s Non-Formal Education program.
After completing the two year program, Rami and all but 2 of 50 of his peers in class passed their 10th grade exam, which gives them what they need to go to local voc tech schools.
Their accomplishment is truly groundbreaking. Once Rami was viewed as a sullen, rebellious dropout, a trouble-making nobody. But through this NF opportunity, he’s become a good student who wants to become a good mechanic. Maybe even own his own business.
This is a totally new experience for Rami and kids like him. To have a second chance for an education after making some wrong choices is a remarkable opportunity due to the recognition by the educational system that kids like Rami are smart and can succeed just like those kids who never dropped out.
Now, instead of being on the outside looking in, Rami and his friends are on the inside looking up! And there are a hundreds more students in Non-Formal Educations just like Rami who are picking up the challenge of making good on the second chance.
