In the center of the town of Aqaba, parents feel powerless to keep their kids from falling into any number of traps.  Their children live in a very “real world,” facing the harsh realities of gangs in dark alleys, and fighting their way through life every day.

Two years ago, Questscope established a center there to help local women create a new reality for themselves and their children through mentoring, education and business opportunities.  It was the chance for mothers to reclaim their loved ones and build a better future.

The change has been phenomenal.  Mothers who left school years ago now have the literacy skills to help their struggling kids with tough homework assignments.  Women developed their hidden talents and started small businesses through entrepreneurship classes, giving their families hope for a better tomorrow.  And family-counseling sessions helped them learn how to wisely steer their children away from the dangers of the city.

The center in Aqaba recently celebrated two years of enabling women to roll back the destructive influences of poverty, a lack of education, and vulnerability to abuse.  Now, one by one, these women are transforming the future for their children…and their children for the future.
