1. What is Questscope's mission?
We are dedicated to equipping at-risk youth and young women in the Middle East with the educational, occupational, social and personal resources they need to overcome poverty, abuse and injustice and become productive and compassionate citizens. We are equally dedicated to expanding the vision and strengthening the capacity of communities and institutions to recognize and meet the needs of the "at-risk" living among them.
2. Whom does Questscope serve?
We serve the impoverished and marginalized members of society: dropouts, working children, juvenile offenders, victims of violence, and low-income women. We recently expanded our programs to Iraqi children who have been displaced to Jordan.
3. What are the main programs Questscope has developed and/or implements?
Our main programs are mentoring/volunteerism, non-formal/informal education, women-led initiatives, restorative justice, and Iraqi children initiatives.
4.What are your methods for implementing programs?
Questscope has been able to discover and cultivate an extremely powerful dynamic for change: our ProSocial model for social development. We are able to stimulate positive, individual change and create supportive, positive/institutional policy change on behalf of individuals and communities. And this among some of the most disadvantaged communities in Jordan.
5. What are the results?
Our partnerships with over 25 government and non-governmental organizations have resulted in:
3100 children mentored
3200 volunteers trained as mentors
2500 children enrolled today in Non-formal education
80 women provided services daily at regional women’s centers
6. How is Questscope funded?
Our programs are stable due to the financial contributions of private individuals, corporate donors and international agencies who believe in Questscope's mission and project capacities. International donors include the European Union, the World Bank, Tear Fund, Diakonia, UNICEF, Prison Fellowship International, UNODC (UN Office of Drugs & Crime), and the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI).
7. How did Questscope start?
Questscope was founded in the Middle East in 1988 to provide a platform for action for the most disadvantaged individuals in their communities. Questscope provides a unique linkage for cooperation and understanding between the East and the West, a critical need at this time in the world.
8. What's next for Questscope?
Questscope has built effective, holistic models for personal and social improvement that will be expanded to other marginalized people including adult prisoners and their families, mentally and physically challenged individuals and the elderly.
9. How does Questscope measure the success of its programs?
We use databases for extensive documentation to measure change in well-defined criteria in the lives of participants. External evaluators also provide critique to ensure that our professional practices lead to the best outcomes.
